Sycamore Class Sleepover
Sycamore enjoyed a fantastic class sleepover. They were joined by family and friends for a barbecue and rounders match. Once their families had gone home, the children watched a film and read by torchlight before going to sleep (or not as was the case for most of the children!) The next morning they enjoyed having breakfast together and playing games on the playground until their parents came to collect them.
Last Day of Forest School
Sycamore enjoyed their last forest school session with plenty of mud, fun and hot chocolate.
My Parents by David Hockney
As part of our new art topic 'Every Picture Tells a Story', the children had to recreate the picture 'My Parents' by David Hockney.
World Book Day
Sycamore had a great time celebrating World Book Day. The children dressed up as their favourite characters and took part in a costume parade with the rest of the school. They also enjoyed a 'quick dip' into six different books from which they had to choose which one they would like to read all the way through. 'Cosmic' and 'Butterfly Lion' were very popular but the class has decided to ask Mrs Veen and Mrs Kelly to add some Robo-Runners books to the school library.
Forest School
Sycamore had a great first week in Forest School. They worked in teams to build shelters which were then tested by an unexpected rain storm (giant water pistol!) The children all enjoyed getting wet and muddy and warming up with a cup of hot chocolate around the fire.

Ahoy!
What an amazing day! Sycamore had a fantastic time performing Ahoy! in a choir of over 200 children. It was a very long day and a late night but the children behaved impeccably and sang beautifully. The evening concert was completely sold out for a wonderful performance.

The Call of the Disciples
In RE, Sycamore are learning about the Sacrament of Confirmation as a time when we are called to live out our faith in our everyday lives. We enjoyed acting out the story of Jesus calling his first disciples.
Teeth Investigation
In science we are learning about teeth, to find out which drinks were most likely to damage our teeth we put eggs into different liquids (cola, orange juice, squash, water, vinegar and Red Bull) and left them for a week. We were surprised how bad squash is for our teeth, especially as it was a no added sugar brand.
Composing on the Computers
In music, Sycamore class have been listening to Mamma Mia! by Abba. We have learned to sing the song and to play our instruments along with the tune. We have also used the song as the basis for composing short pieces of music on the computers.
